I saw Gone with the Wind by Claire Morgan when it was commissioned and first shown at the Laing Art Gallery in 2008. At the time I wrote this about it:
You could really feel the movement even in such a still room. It almost felt like the bird was moving in slow motion and if you stayed long enough or stared hard enough you could follow its path through the air.
The experience stuck in my mind and 6 years later I was delighted to get the chance to see it again, in the very same room as it was first shown. I’m pleased to say it had a similar impact on me as it did then. An excellent use of space and light, prompting questions about stillness and motion.
